Having only dug the two ponds in early summer, the naturalisation of the space has progressed rapidly. With the immediate arrival of frogs, which have bred, I’ve also had many opportunities throughout the summer to photograph damsel and dragonflies.
The introduced fish have produced at least two separate shoals of young, many of which are 2cm or more. Actually something of a concern as, without predators, they will become a problem.
Herald the arrival today of the Kingfisher! It has visited several times. Having installed appropriate perches near and overhanging the waters edge, I’m hopeful it will visit and feed regularly. A solution maybe to the population explosion as well as potentially great opportunities for close photography.
